Evergreen Podcasts Makes History as First Podcast Company to Receive Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credits

Evergreen Podcasts (Evergreen), a Cleveland, Ohio-based podcast publisher, is the first podcast publisher to receive the Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit (OMPTC) award.

OMPTC was created in 2009 to encourage and develop a film industry in Ohio. The program provides a refundable, transferable tax credit. Eligible productions can receive 30 percent on production cast and crew wages, as well as other eligible in-state spending.

“This is a catalyst for our growth as a leading content creator in Ohio, and nationally. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to fund our original shows catalog and expand our reach in the global podcasting marketplace,” says David Allen Moss, Chief Creative Officer of Evergreen.

The credit may be taken against the tax for financial institutions, personal income or commercial activities. To be eligible, a production must spend at least $300,000 per project in the state of Ohio, in the production of entertainment content created in whole or in part within this state for distribution or exhibition to the general public.

"We now have an opportunity to make Ohio a global destination for film and theater," the Cleveland Film Commission said in a statement. "We look forward to collaborating with the Governor and legislature on expanding the tax incentive even further so that we can build a sustainable and permanent industry here in Ohio."
