Welcome to season pass the AF one podcast focused on everything going on in arena football. One. My name is Jeff LeVac. I am your host. Of course, you can always hit me up on X at the Jeff LeVac. And I am joined by my cohost in the world of radio. One of the broadcasters you've heard a bunch on vice TV for the vice game of the week. Recently, Tom, God's Gus Lowski. The fact that I have to give your full name guys freaks me out. I just, does it make you feel weird?
Goz:00:28:00:37
It does. It feels like the government's chasing after me and it feels like the government watches and listens to this podcast. Thank you for having me back. I'm happy to be back. Looking forward to having some more fun with you. Talking some AF1.
Jeff:00:58:01:34
seven and a half in action, three really great games and one just straight up drubbing gods. Let's start with the vice game. It's the first vice game in a very long time that you were not actually part of, but it was a hell of a game. The slime of Liberty traveled to Billings to take on the outlaws. They win this thing, 43 to 37. but it was a little bit of a different Billings team than you had seen previously. One of the bigger moves is the fact that Danny Southwick, the veteran, was under center. What did you see the week before with Brayden Wingle and this offense that leads you to believe they needed to make this change to Danny Southwick, or if they even needed to make the change?
Goz:01:34:02:40
I would say to that second part, the change was necessary. Yes. The Firebird defense was impressive, but at times we see this on social media, I believe it was Jack shot at them on such because it's the point scores a league. And that's what AF one has been. You've got to find ways to just flat out, make it easy to get the ball in the end zone. And the outlaws hadn't done that in their most recent home game against Albany. So what was the change going to be? You moved to Denny Southwick you feel as if you're an outlaw fan, it was an improvement and harder to kind of grasp that after coming off two losses against Albany, but they had their opportunities late in the game. They're celebrating championships. They've got another home crowd back-to-back that was a game where if you're a billing stand, you thought, okay, we're going to win this. We're going to consider ourselves the second best team in the league. Doesn't go in that direction. They can't overcome the changes that quickly. And now it's rebuilding is not the right word for billions, but find yourself going on a journey outlaw fades. It's going to feel like a long journey this season. They have plays at the end to win that game, but it's a lot of coming out on top, making the stops in the fourth quarter to come away with a road win against the outlaws and a great battle on vice.
Jeff:02:41:03:30
live by the turnover, die by the turnover. Cedric Walker, one of those coaches when it comes to billings that, you know, he preaches defense and you can kind of see it's not exactly working the way he'd like it to yet, but Danny Southwick looked really, really, really clean early and then I don't know if Celina figured him out or if, you know, I don't know, fatigue, whatever it was, he started turning the ball over late. That was pretty much all Celina needed to get done, put that together. with a great performance by running back Tracy Brooks for the Liberty. They get this thing done on the road, 43 37 coming up a little later. We are going to go over where you think all these teams rank guys, but this team for Billings, is this one of those ones where, Hey, just don't be in the bottom two. You know, if you make the playoffs, if you get to the dance, you're going to be dangerous. Or is this, you know, kind of a letdown season for them?
Goz:03:31:04:18
It was the first time this season with all those changes, you noted going into a matchup where you wonder as an outlaw fan and you wonder as an AF one football fan, what will the roster, the impact players and the teams be as we get closer to June and July, I would say after that performance, I would lean towards them fighting for a playoff berth. But if coach Walker and company can find some consistency, find the playmakers, find the guys who are going to start putting the w's in the column this season, then they can no doubt be a top two or three team league. The tough part is who is going to take the turf for the outlaws over the next month, a month and a half. So I don't want to pass on that answer, but I feel like I need to know. And I think coach Walker wants to know who in the world are the billions outlaw who are going to be these players really difficult team to read now about halfway through the season.
Jeff:04:18:05:05
one of the rudest things to do guys is answer a question with a question, but I'm with you. Cause I didn't have the answer. Too much trouble. We continue on with the season pass. We stay with this. The road teams came up big this week, but none bigger than the Albany firebirds. They go to Corpus Christi. The Tritons are having some issues. Not really sure all the details that are going on down there in Texas, but five to six of their starters did not play in this game. The Firebirds did go to their backups early, but guys, the final score, 100 from your Firebirds to 12 for your Tritons. Is this one of those games where you go, that's it? The Firebirds are the most dominant team out there. Or do you go, Hey, cite the source. There's some stuff going on in Corpus Christi that allowed this to be such a blowout.
Goz:05:05:06:04
It would be yes and yes to those first of the Firebirds setting not just AF one league records, but we're talking pro football league records. We're talking about the history of the style of football records. tons of all time performances in that game with not even the, as you mentioned, the full fire bird, we'll call it the ones out there still putting up numbers like that. It almost feels like a test that you knew the answers to. If you were in school, a test you studied really well for, and it became easier than you thought because of what you noted there that the Tritons were without multiple impact players and they had to adjust on the fly with not a lot of notice. And for the fire birds, look, you could say if you're a Firebird fan following that game, you didn't get a true judgment of where Albany stacks up against Corpus Christi because they were missing their impact players. Okay. If that's your assessment, that's fine, but it's an 88 point win. Like what's the, how good is Dwayne Hollis and Darius Prince and others? Are they a 50 point difference?
null:06:04:06:04
60, 40.
Goz:06:07:06:36
You could say they make a difference. That's an easy take and it's the right take, but not an 88 point difference. It's hard for me to find any player in AF one this season that could have made up the difference for the firewood. So that's more about the dominance of Albany. Yes, it probably is not that same score if they're playing, but that's more about the firebirds being the top dog in a little bit of a separation. Now, as you previewed the power rankings of it's Albany versus somebody, a lot harder to figure out what the Let's say the difference is between one and two.
Jeff:06:36:07:59
Now in the league, the bad part about this and you know, I've heard people talk about how this makes the league look and things of that nature, but realistically speaking, the marquee matchup was going to be the firebirds of old versus the firebirds of new. We all wanted to see what Darius Prince and Dwayne hollows could do against their old squad. We wanted to see what, you know, DB three instead of DP six. could do for the Firebirds. It did stink that we lost that marquee matchup, but something tells me that you may very well still see it this year, maybe just on a different roster. I just took a look at the transactions for the league and Darius Prince and Dwayne Hollis are both free agents out there. So it's not, I mean, it's, it's not crazy to think that they'll end up on a different squad, heck maybe back with Corpus at some point, if everything that they were upset about gets fixed, but We touched on this about what happened out there, who played well. Robert McCoy Jr., the backup quarterback, the two, if you will, seven touchdowns. Henry Nell, one of the great guys in all of arena football, the South African kicker for the Firebirds, between drop kicks and deuces, 26 points straight from the kicker. Five deuces, he had six drop kicks. That's the kind of performance that I I've never seen anything like it. And I don't know if anybody could have stopped Henry, even if they did have all their people out there.
Goz:08:00:08:40
It's almost a confidence builder for this Firebird team, where things start to change the season, whether it be via injury, whether it be via how the games lay out. I'm talking about a confidence builder in that and how deep this team can be for both Nell and McCoy jr. What they're going to be able to do for the rest of the season, because they were tested on the road on a short week against Corpus Christi. And I would be very surprised if a lot of the things we saw in the game, whether it be the drop kick, whether it be mobility in the pocket, finding the end zone is not what we see out of the Firebirds in May and June. And for all many fans in July, all those things that we saw in a blowout victory are still going to have an impact for the rest of the season and likely be used a ton of those guys throughout the year.
Jeff:08:41:09:16
Cause I was, I was invited to be on a different podcast that covers the AF one and the running theme of the questions was, you know, what's it going to be like to be undefeated? What's going to be like to win another championship as, as the team president of the Albany Firebirds. And then I said, there's a couple of teams you still need to look out for, but you know, you have that unique seat where yes, you do the broadcasting both for the team and for the league. You don't have to be in all the meetings that I have to be in. You get to kind of get that outsider fan look without dealing with the, the, you know, the guts of it all, if you will, who is a threat right now to this Firebirds team?
Goz:09:18:10:21
Maybe Nashville. L you look across league. They haven't faced off yet. The Albany Firebirds have played billions. They played Corpus Christi, you know, the schedule, how it's laid out. Nashville is out. There is the most interesting team to test them. That matchup is scheduled for May 10th. The fibers have a game coming up. on May 4th. So again, a little shorter than a week matchup between Nashville. That'll be a, a vice game scheduled to be Nashville seems to be the most likely because of the unfamiliarity. I already saw a bunch of other teams play Albany and they weren't close. So Nashville almost by default. And my answer is allowed to change in two weeks if that's not the case, but Nashville you're up next, almost like Levack. You know, I've used this comparison throughout the season, a champion in fight sports. You got to go at the champ. Cause right now, even though you don't have the title yet, you haven't won any F1 championship. You seem to be the best number one in the rankings. Let's see what they got in the punches and the, all of that Nashville is what's jumping out to me now. Cause I just don't know. I want to see them get in the ring and see what they can do against Albany.
Jeff:10:22:11:16
Now we'll, I know what you were saying. You're saying this is a different national team. Remember Albany did go to Nashville in week two and get the, the tight 42, 34 victory. But this is, you know, coach, our bat is building a very different roster. We'll talk about that coming up in just a bit, but right now let's move to the Washington Wolfpack. They were on the road to Oregon taking on the lightning Adam Cruz, you know, did what needed to be done. This, this is a game that for me kind of decides who could get that, that six fifth playoff spot, the Wolfpack get the 41 30 victory. You know that I'm a fan of the lightning and Dalton Cole. Cause he just looks, Don Cole looks like that old school football player. That's going to, you know, he's got, he's got a lip full of dip and he's going to go out there and fight for every single inch of the football field. But Adam Cruz and the Wolfpack getting this thing done. When you look at this game, what does it mean to you?
Goz:11:17:12:23
The Wolfpack are the most underappreciated underrated squad and AF one this season. It feels like the time for the Wolfpack to roar, to let everyone know they are here. It could be a true contender. Yeah. Right. Oh, how that's right. Roar. How I'm not up that late to figure out exactly what the Wolfpack is doing now. I know my kids are afraid of wolves. I do know that, but they have an opportunity for the vice game coming up to showcase it, to show this is how good we can be. We get a nationally televised game against Oregon coming up. We're going to show the rest of the league that we can be a contender to win it all, all the way out in Everett. That's what Washington is at now with everyone trying to find their footing in the standings and trying to figure out exactly how good they can be. Why can't this be the breakout performance? Why can't this be the moment for Washington? It feels like it's leaning towards that. And that should be something that a Wolfpack fans look at and say, we're not getting the love. We know we got some East coast players. We know we got some East coast fans that are, this can be Washington's moment this weekend, not taking anything away from the most recent game, but it feels like the eyes are on this matchup coming up this weekend and lead off may.
Jeff:12:24:13:06
I'm I'm I'm with you this Washington team, definitely somehow staying under the radar. Maybe that East coast bias showing even though the league site uses mountain time, let's move on to those natural cats. This is a road sweep this week guys, which has got to be unheard of the Nashville cats. Maybe I would say probably the best game of the weekend versus Southwest Kansas storm. They ended up getting this thing done, but 41 37 Tyler Kolka, the quarterback for the cats has begun to kind of build a relationship with Antoine Grant and it is looking like the kind of thing that could move an offense very, very, very much forward in this league and the defense is no slouch as well. This Nashville Cats team seems to be getting better each and every week.
Goz:13:07:14:23
Grant is going to be talked about as an all league player. He's been doing it for a while across many different leagues. He is an impact player. Fantastic route runner can break away from the offensive backs. So whenever the all legal wards come out or the first, I would be very surprised if his name isn't on that list of players where Nashville stacking them. Now you mentioned the chemistry between him and his quarterback, how that's improving Nashville has found their target. If you're a Southwest Kansas storm fan haven't, I don't know. Yeah, we'll go with the fun. Has it been the most fun for you so far in the last six weeks? I know some of those games didn't result in the victories and your team isn't undefeated, but it feels like every single time it's a close competitive game. You have the lead twice against Corpus Christi. You get the opener against Albany. You got a walk off win against corporate Christie. Then you have this matchup is Nashville. It's I feel like I've said it for a month and it still remains to be true. The Southwest Kansas don't feel like they're right there. You mentioned that like Darius Prince and Dwayne Hollis are free agents. Now, are they a player away? Are they a play away? They feel like they're right there on the fringe of being talked about as the, maybe the second best team in the league or being out of the post season. But every single weekend they're bringing something while Nashville continues to find who their playmakers are going to be likely for the rest of the summer.
Jeff:14:24:15:02
I couldn't, I couldn't agree with you more of Nashville as I've, I've pegged them as my team. I expect to improve every week. And you're, you're, you're dead on with the Southwest Kansas storm. They may be the most fun team to watch. I think they go where their MVP candidate quarterback takes them. That's that's Jalen Morton. Who's, you know, he's had a cup of coffee, you know, in the NFL, this is a game where if If he's able to avoid the safety at the end, who knows? Maybe just maybe they get this thing done with the last last second score. But he's somebody that I could see taking his team on his back in the latter half of this season, maybe the playoffs and really making it tough for teams like Albany and Nashville.
Goz:15:03:15:15
No doubt feels we will see how these teams develop throughout the season, but they are poised to have the roster to make that happen with still some super impactful games that sit across their schedule.
Jeff:15:16:15:49
You know, it's they're one of those teams too. As I as I look around the league and I see some transactions happening, like you can't tell me that head coach of the Firebirds, Damon, where he isn't getting like some weird little text text messages. Like, yo, yo, DWU up. How's how married to your backup QB? Are you like, or, or Hey, Darius Prince, Dwayne Hollis, everybody else down there who has snuck away from Corpus. Where, where are you at? You got any interest in, in doing anything different? we could see some kind of like super teams put together with what's available out there.
Goz:15:50:16:52
the impact of talent that's now sitting out as free agents. And it's a combination though, right? It's like the impact of Prince and hollows hitting free agency. Plus what billions has done with restructuring their roster. Plus what other teams have done, not having the same names you might've talked about in early April, late March now into late April, heading towards may different players are being talked about because they're fitting the system. They're making plays on defense and becoming a great target for a quarterback. towards wide receivers. So we are seeing a lot of changes. I think it's the, the compliment of how good the talent is in the league. Then you can find one to three guys and they can completely change your season. That's how awesome AF one football is and why everybody has to continue to be engaged about the season, that a transaction like that and the right fit on a team can take you from outside of the postseason to being the championship discussion. And we're seeing that has become one of the major themes of the season. Maybe who you thought would be the guy who would be making all the plays isn't doing that for your favorite teams.
Jeff:16:53:18:30
very, very, very, a very fun season so far, especially, you know, obviously I'm up here in the Northeast here in the Northeast. My, my day job is helping run the, the firebirds. They are exciting, but we all know what happens when you get exciting and you play dominant football, you, you become the one everybody wants to take down. So the firebirds will be seeing the best of the best from everybody leading out through the rest of the season. It is the season pass the AF ones podcast right here, evergreen. Now Uh, proudly, proudly, uh, enjoying some Hulk Hogan, real American beers. Whenever the opportunity arises as the official beer of the AF one, um, guys, I'm going to, uh, I'm going to pick your brain again. It's gotten you in some trouble and it's also got you some fans around the country coming up. Tom guys, Guzlowski's power rankings right here on the season pass. There is one thing the season pass can offer that just about nowhere else can. And that is Gaza's power rankings, because guys, whether you love or hate this man, he doesn't care. Uh, he is going to tell you where he thinks these teams rank. He does. There is no loyalty in it. It is all based on what he sees in that weird brain of his. You've heard him on vice television. Maybe you've heard him on Fox sports radio in the capital region of New York. Uh, but what you definitely have to, you know, respect. is no loyalty to me, no loyalty to teams. He's, he's done the call for it's all based on what you see at that moment. So guys, let's go ahead. Let's do your power rankings. I think for drama's sake, we got to go eight to one, right?
Goz:18:31:19:17
Yeah. Let's do eight to one team. Number eight, we'll do eight and seven quick here because it's Oregon and Washington, Oregon and aid Washington at seven We're going to see these teams square off again, this upcoming weekend on the nationally televised game, Oregon's been beaten twice by Washington. So the lighting, although Washington's a really good team, at least trying to find where they can be not too far off. What just one win away from the second team stainings wise, we'll give the Wolfpack the benefit of the doubt over Oregon. So Oregon eight Washington seven. I don't think that's even going to move if Oregon's able to win this weekend because two wins already for Washington. So I don't think there's any surprises there. LeVac you're not right. Oregon and Washington ain't seven right now for you. Like I didn't get a long out of the gates.
Jeff:19:17:19:43
I don't want to pick at you. I don't know. There's, there's something to be said for Corpus. Corpus gave up a hundred points. Like that's, that's it. It's taking the other teams two weeks to give up a hundred points, sometimes three. So I, I don't know. I'm going to let you, I'm going to let you finish. All right. I'm going to let you finish, but Beyonce had the best album all time. So let's, let's, I'm going to let you go and then I'm going to come back at it.
Goz:19:43:20:14
I've got Celina here at six, the Liberty have a great test this upcoming weekend against Albany. There's a chance that if Celina, this is how good Albany has been, that if Celina keeps it close, if they can keep it within one score, we're talking six to eight or maybe within 10, they're going to look at Celina and be like, okay, they could be the potential team that takes them. But as of right now, the Liberty still with their four losses, we'll sit at six. I'm going to put billions, which is the biggest drop so far. I'm going to put billions at five. They've lost three straight.
Jeff:20:14:20:16
Billings at number one. Just so we're right.
Goz:20:17:21:57
Like a month ago, I had the outlaws, the number one team in the league, but all, but he came out with special teams, big plays at MVP arena in the capital district a few weeks ago. They took out Billings. They might have even, when you think about it, dominated the game in Billings more so the following week because of how strong the defense was. So the Outlaws have now fallen to five. Corpus Christi for me now comes in at four. There was a conversation as soon as two weeks ago whether or not Corpus Christi could be the second best team in the league, but because of the beatdown that they suffered against the Firebirds and the loss of those two guys, Hollis and Prince, it's going to be difficult for us to look at that Triton team the same way we did just about a month ago. They check it at four. Now it's between Nashville and Southwest Kansas here for this spot. So Southwest Kansas beats Corpus Christi, and we just saw these two teams square off last week. So we also saw them square off in week zero. So right now we've got a win for Nashville in the most recent matchup on the 26th of April in the week zero matchup, but went and favored the Southwest Kansas storm. So this is the toughest one of the two. Who is the second best team right now at AF one? I'm going to lean towards team number three being the Southwest Kansas storm. I'm going to put them at three here because you look at overall four and three versus three and two, one more loss for the Southwest Kansas storm. They'll check it at three, then boost Nashville to two. And I don't think there's really any doubt who the number one team would be. That's the Albany Firebirds undefeated six and O blowing teams out. So I'm going to give Nashville the benefit of the doubt here with two, but Southwest Kansas and Nashville really close in that two, three spot.
Jeff:21:58:23:21
I agree with one through three. I think one through three, I think you're dead on. Um, I think obviously you can't go against Firebirds right now. They're undefeated. Um, they've played, you know, some of the toughest competition they've beat Nashville. They're going to play Nashville again. They beat Southwest. They just beat Corpus. They beat Billings. They beat Celina, you know, still, still need some time to take on the West coast teams, but That's clean to me. Nashville, I've been banging that drum from the beginning of the season. The second I got a chance to even just kind of sit at dinner with Darren Arbeth, the Hall of Fame head coach, not even knowing at that point he was going to be the Nashville coach, not even being the guy talking to him, just hearing the way he and Damon Ware conversed, I was like, oh my goodness, these guys These are two top-notch coaches. Southwest Kansas Storm, Jalen Morton's a beast, and I think that team is going to go as far as he's going to carry them. Where you and I differ, and I think it's because I'm more willing to make big moves, even, you know, week to week, when a team like Corpus goes out and they lose Darius Prince, Dwayne Hollis, you know, Peyton Jr., they've lost real, real talent. They gave up a hundred points. I got to drop them farther. I got to put them down. I mean, who, they haven't beat the top teams and now you lost some of your top players. So I actually put Corpus at eight right now. I would put them all the way down at eight.
Goz:23:22:23:30
Wow. Even despite some of the wins, that's how much the roster shake was meant to the trades of the bottom team now. Yeah.
Jeff:23:30:24:19
And, and the reason, the reason being is I, you gotta prove, you gotta prove to me that that's not who you are now. Now that you've had to make these roster changes, I believe they have a bi-week, they have two weeks to put together a roster that is going to be able to go out there and compete. And that's, and they need that. And if they do that well, I'll bounce them right back up. But based on what I just saw, I have trouble telling you that they could beat Oregon, that they could beat Washington. And I've said from the beginning, if Celina Liberty goes out and gets a real quarterback, they move up my ranking substantially. And they've got Rakim Kando now. So, I would probably go Albany National, Southwest Kansas Storm, Salina, then Billings, Washington, Oregon, and Corpus would be my last team right now.
Goz:24:20:24:59
How do you feel if you're a Triton fan, you go from potentially the second best team in the league two weeks ago for some people. And that shows what AF one's been so far this season. That's how many changes can happen. That's the impact of players. That shows how competitive the league is that just that quickly. and go from two to eight. I need one more game out of Corpus Christi to feel the way you do that. If they get smoked again this weekend or they lose big again, I might lean towards that tick. I'm going to try to give their coaching staff and their players the benefit of the doubt that maybe that was a fluke, but that might not be the case for firebirds who saw what they were able to do against Corpus Christi. Some weaknesses were shown in big ways in that matchup with the trains.
Jeff:24:59:25:28
See, I don't, alright, what is your criteria? Because mine is, if these teams play it, who do I think would win? Like, right now, based on what I just saw, I have trouble having Corpus beat any of the other teams. That's where I am right now. Now, you know, they got a week off, then they come back, let's say they come out and they look like they just ironed it all out, well now I'm gonna bounce them up, you know, because now I believe maybe you can beat Oregon, maybe you could beat Washington. But right now, I just, I don't see them beating that. What's your criteria? How do you decide?
Goz:25:29:26:24
I would say how much has happened throughout the season to put you in that spot. So say for instance, like, okay, Albany hasn't lost. They're undefeated. They're going to be at that top spot. Nashville has found ways to call them with their way up the stainings here with three wins on the season. It's hard for me. Like, let's say for instance, if Corpus Christi was one in five or two and four, okay. They're going in the wrong direction. They've lost something on their team. They're heading in the opposite way. with a three and two records so far in two wins against Salina. Look, they've lost two in a row. One's on a walk-off play. One's got controversy surrounded and all those things. I'll give it one more week. If it's a stock, I wouldn't buy it. Like you're selling the stock right now. You know, if we did buy or sell one of the classic sports talk radio conversations, you're running to sell it. I'm slightly hanging on. Cause I feel like everyone's jumping off to see if there's anything left for that Triton team, which we'll find out sooner rather than later.
Jeff:26:25:27:05
I don't, to be honest with you, I would probably sold it the week before. I mean, now I got to hold onto it cause it's gone so far down. And again, I hate saying that cause these are guys who are going out and they're fighting, but I just, I believe Albany is that dang good. You know what I mean? But a hundred points is a hundred points. And, and you know, to be able to do that to a team, the way they did it. And again, you see Nashville last time they played national and this Nashville team is that they're going to face, you know, coming up in a week or two, that's it's a better team than it was before. I just, the measuring stick for me right now is the Albany Firebirds. And I think that Washington, Oregon would put up a bigger fight than Corpus right now.
Goz:27:06:27:10
This is why the power ranks are the best. We get to battle every week with them where they stack up.
Jeff:27:11:27:15
I'm shocked you didn't put Albany at second just to tick off David Ware and everybody again.
Goz:27:15:27:16
No, I would not. No.
Jeff:27:16:27:19
You seem to enjoy doing that. You're Tommy Hot Takes. That's what you do.
Goz:27:20:27:26
Coach Ware's offered his opinion of what he thought of my power rankings. I think he'll enjoy these more than what he thought of them three weeks ago.
Jeff:27:27:29:06
Maybe you, maybe you take these power rankings, maybe whether you believe what God's is saying or what myself is saying, you can take them over to better edge. That is the wagering partner of the AF one. They've got spreads. They've got the ability for you to wager against fans, just like yourself, better edge. Like, I mean, my power rankings right now, I feel very strong about them. Will they change? Let's find out after we look at next week's games right here on the season past the AF one's podcast. Time to take a look at week eight. We've got six teams in action, two bye weeks, which means we're going to get a pretty good look at how everything is going to shake out in Gaza as we look at these matchups. I think each one is kind of going to give us an idea of where each one of these teams stands, either solidify where you feel the powerful teams are, or maybe the most improved or the falling fast teams, because we start off right in Southwest Kansas, the storm we're going to host the Billings outlaws. This is Saturday night, 7 PM. And guys, I really, really feel like this Billings outlaws team. They obviously are not the exact same team. They were last year that was able to win a championship in that league that shall not be named, but Cedric Walker's a hell of a head coach. They've got talent. They're going to be tinkering. They're gonna be adding and replacing and doing stuff. Southwest Kansas Storm, Jalen Morton, and the rest of that team, they will go out there. They will give you a fight each and every week. Has Southwest Kansas found a way to, at home, surpass the Billings Outlaws, or are the Billings Outlaws still one of the top teams in this league, and even on the road, they're gonna take out Southwest Kansas?
Goz:29:07:29:57
The Southwest Kansas Storm have found a way to be one of the top teams in the league now. Billings, throughout this season, the biggest criticism, the biggest weakness has been consistency. Whether it's the quarterback position, trying to find out who the best playmaker is at that spot, We even think back to March, right? Adrian Adams was talked about as one of the best players in AF one. At that point, he's been relatively statistically quiet since then McFarland out of the backfield suffers an injury. He doesn't suit up for the first home game for the outlaws. So some of the impact players we thought would be on the outlaws haven't had that happen. And it's a new group of guys who had a new roster. So with the lack of consistency, the lack of production by who are now the playmakers for the outlaws, the Advantage should lean towards the Southwest Kansas Storm who are improving week after week. So favorite in this game should be the Southwest Kansas Storm and they should be the team who takes this victory.
Jeff:29:58:30:33
moving on to Sunday four o'clock. It's the May 4th, may the fourth be with you game on MVP arena, the trans finder field, the Albany Firebirds hosts the Salina Liberty. So guys, Salina Liberty is a team that has played the Firebirds before and it didn't look bright, but now they got a quarterback. They got Rakim Cato. And I think Cato throws the best deep ball in arena football. He throws a teardrop that goes about 48 yards, just drops right into their hands as they enter the end zone. Is he enough? Is he the difference maker where we could see the Albany Firebirds get a little blemish on that undefeated record?
Goz:30:33:31:57
Think about what's happened for Albany the last three games against Corpus Christi. They're up 73 to nothing at halftime against Billings. The previous week, they're up 30 to seven and it could have been 37 to seven because Albany had the ball at the one inch line. The clock ran out and then the previous week they're up 37 to seven. So you have two 30 point leads at a 70 point lead. It's almost again, we'll do the flight in comparison. It's a boxer who punched you in the face in the first round and you're the opponent and you can't get back on your feet after that. And you're stumbling around. And I'm not going to make a prediction for this game because I am on the call for this one with my partner, Andrew Santillo. So I got to be careful about making a call or prediction on this. But I would say if I'm a Salina Liberty player, the coaching staff, fan bases, all that stuff. It's about what we've talked about with the fire where it's pacing this season. If you think talent wise and overall production wise, Albany's offense is better than yours. You've got to drain the clock and hope they can stay off the field after posting a hundred burger last week against the trains, keep them off the field. If you're down 14, nothing quick. That's what Albany wants to have happen. So control the pace of play. hope to avoid a monster deficit by the end of the first or defensive touchdown lay weld special teams. And you should be okay in this one, but Albany should be at least a two to three touchdown favorite.
Jeff:31:57:33:03
It seems when they go back to the Capitol district in New York, it's, it's definitely going to be a tough game, but I think it's one of those games that nobody thinks you're going to win. So just let it rip and see what happens. And again, Cato Cato's that guy, you know, the, he has games. some of those games he goes out there and he looks like he should, you know, you should hang his Jersey from the rafters that day. And then other games he has where it's just, he looks frustrated. If you can frustrate him, he's going to make mistakes. If you, if you fall for his nonsense and you, you try to stop the game up close to the line of scrimmage, he's going to teardrop you all day long. So it's going to be a fun game. I think four o'clock on a Sunday. And then also on Sunday is our vice game of the week is the Oregon lightning go to Washington to take on the Wolfpack. As you mentioned earlier in the show, guys, this is a rematch from a week ago. I love these quarterbacks. I love the both these teams. They just, all they do is put up fun games. They may not be the best teams in the league, but I don't think anybody gets a ticket to see the lightning or the Wolfpack and wants their money back. I think they all enjoy it no matter what.
Goz:33:03:33:51
This is a great time for these fans to see their team get the national love that they deserve to continue to show all the efforts they put in over the course of the last few weeks. I would lean in favor of Washington for the team that's beat them twice so far this season, or can it can have a moment where they say, you know what, we've got a lot of football still left to be played here. Let's see what we're able to do against a top tier competition. against Washington who could be a playoff team still, but until I see it happen, I'll lean in favor of Washington who could be that tricky team. If they get in as a four or a three in the post season, they'll have no problem taking on teams a lot. Let's say right. East coast style against it. Wolfpack will have the advantage. Wolfpack maybe quite possibly the coolest jerseys by the way, an AF one should be a fun game on Sunday night.
Jeff:33:52:35:30
You know, I helped design the fibers jerseys, right? like I said, a top Jersey in the AF one. No, I know people love that Wolfpack Jersey. There's no doubt about that. Yeah. Just a great game. You know, I'm, I'm a fan of Dalton Cole. I do just goes out there, slings it and has a good time. So I'll be, I'll be rooting for the lightning and the Wolfpack, but also looking to see what happens for those two teams that aren't playing the Nashville cats, a little bit of tinkering, maybe adding a couple of pieces to become that much better. The Corpus Christi Tritons got a lot of work to do in this bi-week. They got to figure it out. They got to get back, whatever it is they lost. And then some, if they want to keep this thing going, that's what's coming up in week eight of AF one football. We are the season pass. And we want to thank all of our great sponsors, trans finder, the official ball sponsor of the AF one Hulk Hogan's real American beer brother. You want to pop a cold one, have a good time responsibly. That's the way to do it. Better edge, a way to wager on arena football. One against arena football, one fans evergreen. Now, you know, we are big fans of evergreen. Now it is free. All you got to do to set up an account is put your email in and there's so much going on at evergreen right now. It is growing leaps and bounds. The library is expanding. I went in to watch arena football. Next thing you know, I'm watching old movies. It was, it's, it's a lot going on in there and make sure you check it out. And of course our official TV home vice sports game of the week this week, Oregon lightning at Washington, take it on the Wolfpack. Thanks so much device. Thanks to producer bill for getting it done. Tom guys. Cause Lowski. Thanks for taking time today, buddy. I appreciate you.
Goz:35:31:35:33
No, thank you for having me. Hopefully we'll do this again real soon.
Jeff:35:34:36:05
We will, I will have, Oh, I saw producer bill pop up. You want to say something, bill? I mean, cause it is, you do all the work. Nope. See, that's what bill bill is the man who does all the work. It takes none of the credit. So I get to take it all. My name's Jeff Levesque. Make sure you fire off any questions, comments, concerns at X at the Jeff Levesque, T H E J E F F L E V A C K. That's your spelling word for the day. Everybody. Thank you so much for enjoying the season pass. I have one's official podcast. Good luck to all your teams out there. Let's score a hundred. Everybody. It's a ton of fun.
