The Best Holiday Recipes (and the podcasts to listen to while you bake them)

This holiday season, enjoy time with your family with one of the very best holiday traditions… baking!

Fun for the whole family, holiday treats = the most delicious time of the year.

There is just something special about holiday recipes. Maybe it's the way you only get them once a year, or maybe it's the fun of making them together; whichever it is...holiday treats always taste better than anything else.

Here at Evergreen, we love listening to our podcasts when we bake. So here are some pairings of the best recipes (along with the best podcasts) to try out this holiday season.

Peppermint Bark

One of the best holiday recipes out there is peppermint bark.

Crunchy and sometimes chewy, sweet with chocolate. Yummy delicious bits of peppermint. There is almost nothing better than homemade peppermint bark.

Here's a fast and easy recipe that the whole family can help make!

Peppermint Bark

It wouldn't be right to write a blog about holiday recipes without including a podcast all about baking.

Flour Hour is a show that covers all things baking. From tips and tricks to recipes and interviews, this podcast has it all. With over thirty episodes you’ll have plenty of time to measure, mix, bake and ice any of these recipes.

HCB

If you don’t know this acronym, you must not have seen any Instagram or Facebook posts this past November.

Hot Chocolate Balls(or bombs) have definitely become trendy. These sweet delectable creations are easy to make and very customizable.

The main things you'll need are ball molds, marshmallows, and hot chocolate powder. Any other ingredients you want to throw in is up to you!

You can try caramel, dark chocolate, marshmallow fluff, even peppermint bits. (a dark chocolate peppermint bark one please!)

Here's a recipe that shows you exactly how to make them!

For this pairing, a fun winter-themed podcast sounds like the perfect fit.

Why not try out Honey Roast. Honey Roast is a feel-good podcast where the hosts take turns complimenting someone they are inspired by.

Ricotta Cookies

Now, these cookies may not be as well known, but they are one of the most delicious out there.

Ricotta Cheese Cookies are thick and crumbly, with the perfect amount of softness in the center. These cookies are topped with a rich cream cheese icing that could be eaten by the spoonful.

There are a couple of different variations of this recipe, but here is one that is quick and simple.

If you love things that are nice and quick, you’ll love Christmas Past. This podcast has tons of 12-15 minute episodes that tell the backstories of holiday traditions such as snow globes and candy canes.

Lemon Butter Cookies

If you want something that will feel a bit lighter, try these lemon butter cookies.

With a nice tartness to balance out the sweetness, these cookies are to die for.

Lemon Butter Cookies

If you want something fun and lighthearted to go with these cookies, Sleepover Cinema is the perfect podcast for you

“Welcome to Sleepover Cinema, where we analyze the films that created the collective unconscious of the girls, gays, and theys of the late 90s and early 2000s.”

Holiday Shortbread Bites

A delicious twist on the old classic, these shortbread bites are sure to be a hit.

With only a couple of ingredients needed, these cookies are an easy recipe to make.

Super easy to make and delicious, who can say no?

Here's the recipe!

Another classic to go with this classic recipe is Novel Conversations. This podcast covers the entire book cover to cover in only 30 minutes. There are episodes on books by Mark Twain, and episodes on books such as The Time Machine and Till We Have Faces.

Hot Chocolate Brownie Cups

If you want to impress all your friends and family with photos of your creations, this recipe is for you.

Not only delicious, but these hot chocolate brownie cups also look absolutely amazing.

These cute little brownies have delicious marshmallows on top( creating the perfect whip cream look-alike). Chocolate covered pretzels make the handles of these little mugs.

With icing drizzle for chocolate sauce and sprinkles, these yummy brownies will definitely be gobbled up.

Here is this recipe!

Perfect to get you into the holiday/winter mood All Things Cozy is just as its title says.

“A biweekly podcast about all things cozy. Light a scented candle, curl up with a mug of coffee, and join us every other Sunday for a new episode”

Caramel Gingerbread Cookie Bars

While these cookies are a little harder to make...they look absolutely delicious.

Full of molasses and brown sugar, these cookie bars are thick and coated in a caramel sugar icing.

If you're up for the challenge these bars will be an excellent addition to your cookie jar.

Caramel Gingerbread Cookie Bars

With these cookies being a little on the harder side to make, a more adult podcast is required.

A dark and suspenseful sci-fi podcast, DUST is now three seasons strong. Each season has a different theme and is sure to capture your attention.

You can start with any of these seasons, but hint hint, season three is amazing.

We at Evergreen hope you have enjoyed these pairings of podcasts and cookie recipes. If you end up making some of these, post your delicious creations and tag us at @streamevergreen

Have a happy holiday!
