Celebrating the Fathers of Evergreen Podcasts
Late spring and early summer are perfect times to celebrate our families. In May, we curated a list of fun audio activities to enjoy with your family for Mother’s Day. For Father’s Day we want to recognize the small but mighty team of Evergreen Dads!
Michael DeAloia, CEO of Evergreen Podcasts, is our "Man of the House" and the proud father of a bubbly little girl. David Moss, our Chief Creative Officer, is the proud father of his daughter who just graduated from high school and plans to continue her education at John Carroll University in the fall. We have two fractional employees, Mr. Dennis Raab and Mr. Scott Moss, who are both proud fathers of adult children. Later this summer, Dennis will become a Grandfather, the ultimate prize! On the production side, Chris Aiola, Producer of Carol Costello Presents: Blind Rage and featured in the recent article, "From Long Island to the Shores of Lake Erie" (originally published by Innovate Long Island), is a relatively new father of two. And finally, fueled by the love and chaos of four children, everyone's favorite drama, Douglas Bailey, our Director of Business Development.
To all of the dads in our office, studios, and greater network, we wish you a very happy Father’s Day!
Whether you’re a traditional dad, plant dad, father to furry friends, or not a dad at all, you likely have many sides. There’s the sentimental, the silly, and even the dangerous. Lucky for you, we have a podcast recommendation for everyone!
Father’s Day Podcast Recommendations
Cheer: A Holiday Podcast: Father’s Day, A Tribute to Dad. In this episode of Cheer, we are celebrating Father’s Day by interviewing the experts! We talked to several kids (ages 2-15) who shared their favorite jokes and stories about their dads. From sentimental to goofy, things got a little outta hand! Of course, the kids were hilarious and adorable (let's hope their dads think so too)!
The Storyworth Podcast - Everyone has a story worth sharing. Since 2013, Storyworth has helped people write their life stories—the big stories and the small ones. On this podcast, our real-life writers volunteer to share their stories publicly with you. It’s Father’s Day! We’re sharing some less-conventional stories this time around—stories that go a little deeper than usual and explore the man behind the incredibly important role of “dad.” In this very special Father's Day episode, Krista sits down with the entire Streeter family: David and Ginny, plus their kids Libby, Reuben, Kaylee, and Connor. Each kid reads their favorite passage from their dad's Storyworth book and shares stories about what it was like growing up with David as their dad.
For the Dangerous Side
Crime Capsule - Godfathers of Chicago's Chinatown: An Interview with Author Harrison Fillmore
Godfathers of Chicago's Chinatown: Even in a town notorious for gangsters like Al Capone, much of Chicago's lawless lore has remained uncharted. Chicago's Chinatown, in particular, was home to a vast criminal enterprise, strictly bound by old country rituals, rules, and traditions. Few know of Moy Dong Chew, aka "Opium Dong," one of Chinatown's original godfathers, much less Frank Moy, his fedora-wearing predecessor. While incidents like the St. Valentine's Day Massacre dominated newspaper headlines, the Tong Wars were being waged in the shadows. Author Harrison Fillmore relates the long and sordid history of Chinatown's underbelly from the early 1880s to the late 1980s when a Federal Indictment essentially ended organized crime's grip on their good citizens.
