Evergreen Honors Black History Month
Join us as we showcase the many voices of diversity from the Evergreen family.
February is dedicated to Black History Month, commemorating the triumphs and struggles of African Americans throughout U.S. history. The event was originally established as a week-long celebration in 1926 by Carter G. Goodson until it was recognized as a month-long event by President Gerald Ford in 1976.
Ford stated to the American people to "seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout history."
Evergreen would like to recognize and celebrate the talented hosts of these signature shows:
Black & White with Stephen Dorsey
As biracial and bilingual (English and French Canadian) man, Stephen Dorsey explores racial discourse in Black & White with Stephen Dorsey through conversations with insightful guests who share their own takes on what’s at play.
Stephen adds:
My race duality has given me a unique perspective on both the Black and white experience in Canada..... What became most evident to me – most universal – was an important need for building bridges of understanding between Black and white Canadians. A need to inform and educate so that hopefully, in due time, we can achieve real change.
