INTRO

Here is a snappy summary of the news – a weekly digest of the latest events and happenings at home and abroad. I’m your host, Rodge Bigsby and this is your Retrotone News Minute!

Greetings Mr. & Mrs. America and all the dancing bears in Watkins Glen. Let’s get on the Hippy Train!

1) THIS WEEK IT’S A LOOK AHEAD A SUMMER FULL OF BLOCKBUSTER EVENTS!

You know, Rodge loves a big show, the silverscreen and amusement parks. Sound off! Stage left! Stage right! Get on the ride! America’s got some real skill for the thrills, see. And like this old news guy, this Land’s got a love for the spectacle.

Open the shuttle doors. Make way for all geeks from a galaxy far far away...
The dream is about to enter hyperspace. This week, The Walt Disney Company announced its new "Star Wars" lands Galaxy's Edge will open on May 31 at its California park and on Aug. 29 in Florida. They say lines for Disneyworld’s ever popular Pandora last for up to 2 hours, just to get inside the Avatar-inspired dreamscape. Just imagine the magnitude of the lines on opening day at these storied parks. May the Force Be With You!

2) HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN!

My dear mother, Shirley Constance Bigsby, used to take me to one of the premier amusement parks in the World – Euclid Beach Park – near my birthplace, along the rippling shores of the Great Lake Erie. Care to relive those days of Humphrey’s popcorn balls, The Thriller, and Derby Downs racing carousel? Find me, Rodge, at this years Euclid Beach Park Days, July 20th, 2019. Relive the wonder of the park’s Grand Carousel, the Flying Turns ride, the famous Euclid Beach Bath House, and so much more! I’ll be there. Stop by for a free lollipop and picture with Rodge! Get on over to the Western Reserve Historical Society for the skinny.

3) GREASE IS THE WORD… AGAIN!
A Grease prequel is in the works because we live in Hell now

Grim news today, as The Hollywood Reporter brings word of Paramount’s diabolical plan to develop a prequel to the 1978 musical, Grease. What we’re about to tell you is incredibly disturbing. This stinky Grease prequel will be titled – brace yourselves – Summer Loving. The threat of this prequel is imminent. We will keep you posted as the story develops. (or, not) Good night, and good luck!
